Economic climate index in 2007 reaches highest level since 1990, economic situation improves.

The Economic climate index of the East Brandenburg region reache a new highest level since 1990. During the past three months of 2007 enterprises registered the best economic situation since 1990. "The economy of East Brandenburg undergoes a strong and nice spring ", describes Klaus Kröpelin, responsible for regional economic policy at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CCI) Frankfurt (Oder), the momentary business situation in the region.

The improvement of business potential in the reagion was shown by a survey the CCI conducted among 400 companies in March 2007. The economic climate index rose from 113 (summer 2006) to 125 points and achieved a new peak level. East Brandenburg’s companies estimate the present economic situation positively. Industry, trade, service and building sector register a good development.

Furthermore companies look more positively into the future: Only 16 percent of the questioned enterprisers count on a bad economic trend (autumn, 2006: 31 percent), while 28 percent count on a favourable state of business (autumn, 2006: 23 percent).
